Synopsis
A person is digitally connected to millions of people online—but feels emotionally lonely on social media.
Socialgram….
I made another account again
What is this? My 10th one to try and make a friend? They say that you can find others here
Where you can’t find locally anywhere
I’m so happy it worked out for you
How luck fell upon your life times two
Please tell me, if you lose some followers
Would they treat you the same?
Or quickly see you as a bother?
Oh, I hope they stay—surely…
That can’t be the reason you would lose a buddy…
‘Cause as I scroll and scroll and wonder…
What images and videos are real and fake…
I ponder and say “hi” and more in the messages to try and start a conversation with little haste
Leaving an everlasting digital footprint
Oh, what if that person I’m trying to talk to
Said or done something repulsive—and even though
I didn’t know…there’s “evidence” of me
wanting to get to know the offensive?
I’ve made associates in real life and as well as a good friend and I did it without even hitting “send”
But on social media, my message was left on read, and they may not be known celebrities
But I mean, they do have thousands followers who they’ve never even seen
And no, they don’t have to like me or want to get to know me, I stopped talking to people in real time, too—whenever I felt energy from them that was quite shady
But online, since I can’t get a sense of their energy all the way
To know whether if they’re meaner or kinder
Is it wise I should get to know them online either?
Should a thought rise for me to attempt to stay?
