Mini Poems (Part 1)

What is Inspiration to Me?

Inspiration for me is a vampire who was just born

Then art to me is the vampire living on, and on, and on, and for years to come as an adult

Art that creates catharsis is sunlight piercing through that vampire to transform into an angel that blesses you

Art that creates repressed emotions is that same vampire biting to suck your blood—becoming a parasite

But what does that mean?

Inspiration can lead to many directions

Some favorable

And some not

At least you have the beautiful gift of it being born

This is what matters the most

Mini Poems (Part 2)

In this Urban Home I Live

Some people might say, in urban places

There are no clean roads, or care for safety

Abandoned playgrounds, for children to play

Most homes are vacant, and none would live in

Yet, I say—in this urban home I live

The roads, looked after—don’t see lots of crime

The playgrounds, kept clean—near green scenery

Most townhomes, lived in—with front yard rose shrubs

Some people might say, in urban places

That a certain “group”—don’t love their locale

That things look rundown, almost to the ground

There’s always a fight, none who love the peace

Yet, I say—in this urban home I live

The mailman would come, we share alike looks

Construction people help build walls and roofs

There are calm times and fun parties to dance

In urban places, it’s not a person’s blackness that harms it

It’s a system that scares folks to not care

Yet, I say—in this urban home I live

There are people who want to see it sheen
