I’m Thankful
(Stanza Poems)
Written By Nigh-Jee
Synopsis
A poem about Thanksgiving you can read every year to yourself or loved ones.
I’m thankful for this food upon my dining table
Corn, greens, stuffing, and potatoes
I’m thankful for my family in the living room
Laughing, smiling, like life has no doom
I’m thankful for the fireplace rising to the skies
Popping and clapping before our very eyes
I’m thankful for the parade strolling on the street
With turkey floats flying on that drumming beat
I’m thankful for the decorations sprucing up my life
Helping the holidays strongly entice
I’m thankful for pumpkin, apple, and sweet potato pie
Singing a truth so sweet, the future has no lie
I’m thankful for the leaves who paint themselves gold
Reminding me beauty can come in the midst of the cold
Family, food, home—parades, leaves, and warmth
And don’t forget, next month, onwards to the north
And sadly, a moment like this can remind of sad times
Let us not forget the past of those who lost their lives
An origin as foul as a fowl who lost their wings
I’m thankful First Nations celebrate and pay homage to different brings
For everyone
I’m thankful for this loving and caring atmosphere
That has us all together once upon a year
After eating
We lay upon our couches or beds in a daze
To lastly dream of giggling across a windy, sunny, and vast prairie maize
All Point-Of-Views Are Welcomed
