Early 2000s Rock Music
(Stanza Poems)
Written By Nigh-Jee
Synopsis
2026 arrives, but someone reminisces on their time in the early 2000s.
It’s 2026
This year will be fixed
But I once think of a time
When life was simply sublime
Give me a rock star’s guitar
Pull those strings ’til their sound echoes far
Pull out a skateboard
And ride down the gray cement yard
Hang out with friends—secret crushes
Let your mp3 player mend
Your heart digicams a picture in your mind
Your body prints out those photos quite find
And your soul touches it with your hand
A scrapbook of alpenglow above fair rides “rainbowfully” glow
And magazine cut-outs—carefully planned
Turn on that early 2000s rock music
A time when no internet distracted friendships
Low-top shoes help carry our moves
My small diamond earrings, hear the drummers, too
We tra-a-vel-el-el back in time
Our so-o-o-o-ouls feel alive
When fake friends flip-flop
We flop open our flip phone and call another flock
As we play sports or joke in May
Our logo jeans and plain tank-tops lay
upon the park bench, eating corner store fifty cents snacks, today
Give me a rock star’s guitar
Pull those strings ’til their sound echoes far
Let your mp3 player play something sick
Turn on that early 2000s rock music
A time when no internet distracted friendships
We tra-a-vel-el-el back in time
Our so-o-o-o-ouls feel alive
Read a book we got from the school fair
Place a disk in the console
We not only play but OWN games here
Waiting for good shows on t.v
taught us anticipation builds up energy
Spend the night with friends whose parents friend their parents
But don’t stay up too late
‘Cause when mom opens the drapes and say “get up”
And see y’all are still asleep
Them games—she just might take
But only the good kids listen after that lesson takes place
Give me a rock star’s guitar
Pull those strings ’til their sound echoes far
Let your mp3 player play something sick
Turn on that early 2000s rock music
A time when no internet distracted friendships
We traveled back in time
Our souls did feel alive
But it’s 2026 and this year will be fixed
I’ll make new good memories
Living, learning, and maturing gracefully
While still listening to those early 2000s music
All Point-Of-Views Are Welcomed
